Christmas time stories

  January 8th, 2006 by Holly

A few days before Christmas, he wandered over to a present and tried to pick it up by the bow. The bow popped off and left a hole in the wrapping paper, so he peered through. Hmm…something interesting…he started to tear, and lo and behold, there was a TOY inside! Cool! He couldn’t quite get it out so he slammed the whole thing on the floor til a pull-along rolling frog tumbled out. photos here…

Griffin was asking me what I was eating. He wanted some. I gave him a spoonful of rice and he went on his merry way. 2 seconds later, PLAM, he sneezed rice all over the wood floor.

Yesterday he was playing with one of his favorite leggo windows (open, close…open, close…) He can only say “mama” and “dada” and “apple’ so far, but he babbles quite a bit. He’ll talk your ear off, in fact. Well give him enough time (like the monkeys typing Shakespeare) and he’ll come out with a full sentence; he said “it’s a winda.”

He’s getting to feel very strongly about making his own decisions. When I disrupted his groove yesterday, he fell on his bum in protest. When I didn’t produce the “omigosh, are you OK?!” that he wanted, he stood up and banged his forehead against the wall, stopping briefly in the middle to see if I was panicking. I wasn’t.

How did he like Christmas? He loves the little white lights and was completely blissed out when he tried a candy cane. He was flabbergasted by Santa. He didn’t “get” the unwrapping presents thing, so we had to keep making it interesting for him. He especially liked the books he received (thanks everyone.) After all was unwrapped, his favorite toy was, you guessed it, a cardboard box.
